From insulating pipe runs and repairing a damaged expansion joint to installing a steel staircase. Here is a selection of our projects combining industrial insulation, sheet metal work and bespoke structural fabrication.
Insulation and metal cladding for pipework and valves
Pipe insulation requires attention to bends, branches and maintenance points as well as a continuous insulation layer. These photographs show insulated pipe runs with protective metal cladding, from straight sections entering a service channel to complex pipework around industrial equipment.
We shaped the cladding to suit the pipework and individual valves. The right-hand photograph shows segmented elbows and removable covers with latches that provide access to flanges and valves during maintenance. Operating controls remain accessible. The insulation limits heat transfer, while the outer metal casing protects it against mechanical damage and environmental exposure.
Renewing insulation and cladding on cyclones and screw conveyors
This project involved removing, supplying and installing insulation and metal cladding on cyclones and screw conveyors, including the associated support framework. The left-hand photograph shows the work in progress: exposed fibrous insulation and the metal supports for the outer casing.
The right-hand photograph shows the finished cladding on the cylindrical sections and connecting runs. The individual panels follow the equipment geometry while keeping the top inspection openings accessible. Complex equipment of this kind calls for accurate site measurements, division of the casing into practical installation sections and careful detailing around outlets, covers and service platforms.
Emergency repair of a fabric expansion joint
The before-and-after comparison shows a severely damaged flexible section and the restored fabric joint between the flanges. The original fabric was torn and frayed. After the repair, the new flexible section is secured around its circumference with clamping components and bolted connections.
A fabric expansion joint provides a flexible connection between rigid parts of process equipment and accommodates relative movement. For repairs of this type, we select the materials and construction to suit the operating temperature, pressure, medium and required movement. Matching the joint to its operating conditions is essential to its function.
A self-supporting steel staircase in an industrial hall
Our work also includes steel structures adapted to existing industrial facilities. In this case, we installed a self-supporting staircase connecting service levels beside process equipment. The photographs compare the original space with the new stair flight fitted between the existing structures.
The staircase consists of steel stringers, grating treads and guardrails with handrails. It fits the restricted space beside the equipment and provides direct access to the upper platform. This type of installation requires on-site measurements and coordination of fabrication and assembly with the surrounding equipment.
Technical insulation for fire water pipework
We installed technical insulation with protective metal cladding on fire water pipework. The photographs show the pipe runs along the hall and more complex sections around columns and beside process equipment. The metal casing follows the pipe route through straight sections and segmented elbows.
Selected locations use removable sewn insulation jackets to provide access to the covered components during servicing. Combining fixed metal cladding with removable insulation components protects the insulation while preserving maintenance access. The pipework operating conditions and surrounding environment are always considered when selecting the insulation system.
A solution suited to your facility
At IPK, we combine technical preparation, supply and installation of industrial insulation with sheet metal fabrication, sewn insulation and steel structures. Planning a repair or refurbishment? Send us photographs, basic dimensions and operating conditions so we can agree on a suitable scope of work.
